As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Arab News, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on its remarkable journey and lasting impact. Having had the privilege of serving as its editor-in-chief from 2011 to 2012, I deeply appreciate the newspaper’s role in shaping media discourse and fostering intellectual and cultural exchange. My time at Arab News was a rich and rewarding experience, made even more meaningful by the dedication of my colleagues, who shared a commitment to journalistic excellence.
Since its inception, Arab News has stood as a bridge between Saudi Arabia and the world. It has not only chronicled the Kingdom’s transformation but also provided an essential platform for dialogue, helping to connect Saudi society with the global community. Over the decades, the newspaper has taken bold initiatives, introduced innovative perspectives and contributed significantly to the national and regional media landscape.
Building on this success, we look forward to seeing Arab News continue its leadership in today’s evolving media environment. As Saudi Arabia undergoes a historic transformation, it is essential for the newspaper to highlight the Kingdom’s dynamic progress — whether in terms of economic reforms, cultural renaissance or global engagement. Equally important is its role in fostering open discussions that reflect the diversity of viewpoints within our society.

Beyond its news coverage, Arab News has long been a home for distinguished Saudi and Arab writers, as well as an intellectual space that welcomes voices from the East and the West. This openness has enriched its content, making it a hub for diverse opinions and thought-provoking discussions. I sincerely hope that my colleagues at the newspaper will continue to uphold this tradition, ensuring that Arab News remains a trusted source of information and a platform for meaningful dialogue.
Additionally, I urge the newspaper to continue playing a pivotal role in training and developing Saudi journalists, equipping them with modern media skills that will empower the next generation of storytellers. This investment in journalistic talent will not only strengthen Saudi Arabia’s media landscape but also enhance its cultural and diplomatic communication efforts on the global stage.
As we honor 50 years of excellence, let us celebrate Arab News as a beacon of responsible journalism, intellectual exchange and global engagement. With its strong foundation and forward-thinking vision, I am confident that the newspaper will continue to participate in the shaping of the future of media in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
Congratulations to Arab News on this milestone and my best wishes for its continued success in the years to come.
